Our Goals

Mission Statement: 

The mission of the Copper Harbor Playground Project is to create a safe and accessible space for all children and families to enjoy.  The social and physical health that such a playground promotes is vital to the development of children of all abilities. This committee strives to enrich the quality of life for all local citizens, provide economic value through facilities that support tourism, and encourage long-term community stability and growth.

Our goal is to replace the current playground with new equipment that blends with Copper Harbor’s natural environment. This playground will…

1. Promote greater outdoor, social and physical activity for the young people of Copper Harbor and surrounding communities. This space will also serve the thousands of annual visitors to our area.

2. Provide a healthy opportunity for purposeful play in order to build motor skills and combat ADHD, obesity and depression.

3. Create a safe place for families that will enhance our local park and showcase the uniqueness of Copper Harbor’s one-room schoolhouse.

4. Include as many elements as possible to accommodate a range of physical and emotional needs.

5. Link seamlessly to our extensive human-powered trail system.
